The Kenny Kent Toyota Lexus Jazz, Wine & Arts Festival
is a production of the Downtown Division of the
Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville (GAGE)
EVENT OVERVIEW
Entering into its inaugural year, the 2008 Evansville Jazz, Wine,
and Arts Festival will feature the smooth sounds of jazz,
delectable wines from the region’s top vintners, and a wide-
variety of local art. The one-day celebration will showcase non-
stop entertainment and art in the heart of Evansville’s
Downtown district.
JAZZ
As part of the festivities, a refreshing blend of music with a focus
on jazz will be heard throughout the downtown. The event will
feature a balanced mixture of established artists and emerging
talent throughout the day and will conclude with a concert along
the riverfront featuring the IU Jazz Ensemble. The GAGE staff
will partner
with local jazz enthusiasts, musicians, and local
university programs to kick off the 1st annual Evansville Jazz,
Wine & Arts Festival.
WINE
The festival’s wine area will offer grand wine-tastings,
demonstrations, chef cook-offs, and food booths that promise to
delight the connoisseur’s palette. Specialists in wine, health
and wine/food pairing will offer a variety of hands-on seminars
for patrons throughout the festival. The event will introduce
guests to internationally award-winning wines and will offer the
chance to meet with vintners and sommeliers to learn more about
the art of winemaking. Patrons of the festival will also be able to
be a part of the great grape stomping competition held
throughout the day.
ART
Working closely with the Arts Council of Southwest Indiana, the
art portion of the festival will feature open air art showcasing
paintings, sculptures, and much more from local Tri-State artists.
In terms of visual expression, the festival will encompass the
canvas. Patrons are encouraged to peruse the area and buy from
their favorite local artists along the way.
