Members: Barbara Santora (Vocalist and Entertainer)
Bookie & The Boobs is a group that was quite popular in the late 60's & the 70's here in Evansville, and played to a packed house every night at a club called The Coachman for 3 ½. In 1974, they began playing in a club under the Victory Theatre called Bookie's Donjon until 1977 when disco changed the music business and they all went their separate ways. These guys have stayed in touch and have played together on an occasional basis. You may notice that they have all aged some, but the style of music is still jazz oriented and they still like to have fun.
Carl Rodenberg has been making music in the Evansville area now for many years. His soulful piano playing and voice are the perfect prescription for a relaxing evening around the Baby Grand at the Quarternote. Carl is often accompanied on guitar by Tommy Stillwell, and Jon Rochner on Bass, or brother Mike, on the upright Bass.
Jeff Harmon Jazz
Jeff Harmon Jazz has been a working jazz band in the Evansville area for more than 60 years. Leader, Jeff Harmon, has been playing jazz at the professional level since he was 16 years old - some 68 years ago. While Jeff is currently doing duties on upright bass, he also played trumpet and valve trombone through the years and distinguished himself on both. While you won't hear it from him, Jeff has been one of the finest Dixieland trombonists ever to pick up the horn anywhere. The current version of the band features Jeff's wife, vocalist, Jane Harmon. She brings a deliciously pure voice and swinging style to the group as its on-stage leader. Drummer, Pat Moore, recently rejoined the group with which he made his professional debut some 43 years ago when he was 16 and driven to play jazz whenever and wherever he could. In the interim, Pat has spent a career in the music business as owner of Moore Music, one of Evansville's best known music stores, and as drummer for more groups than anyone can remember. JHJ's most recent addition is keyboardist, Red Wick. No one can figure out why they have not worked together before since Red has also been playing jazz in Evansville for almost as long as Jeff (including a 15-year gig at Evansville's Petroleum Club), but his addition has been a true pleasure for all. Jazzafloozie St. Louis native, and current Evansville resident, Cynthia McDonald performs sultry ballads and swing standards that take you back to the smoky jazz clubs of the 40's. New Jersey native, and current Newburgh resident, Bob Green is musically and stylistically proficient in numerous genres and instruments. His expertise on piano, saxophone, flute, and trumpet has him tapped as the #1 in demand musician in the Evansville area. The Browne Sisters
The Browne Sisters, Gina Moore and Joan Moore-Mobley real-life sisters have been singing together as "The Browne Sisters" since 1986. This year marks 25 years for the sisters. They grew up singing in the choir at Liberty Baptist Church. The sisters opened for The Neville Brothers back in October of 1998. The Sisters got their name at the Civic Theatre when they both auditioned for the single role of Geneva Lee Browne. The director at that time Dick Engbers could not decide who to cast for the part so he split the role and there you have "The Browne Sisters." U of E Jazz Ensemble I
